The Adventure:
The party wanted to go shopping, and to look for Cullum, the man who had tried to abandon them in the dungeon. They placed a very large order for healing potions with Kyriellen, the fortune teller and potion brewer, and bought a few other regular adventuring supplies. Kyriellen told them their order would take about two weeks to fill.
They started their search for Cullum by asking Bartholomew, proprietor of the Hollow Leg, about him. Bart said he didn't know a lot about him, but he'd seen him speaking a few times to Rekyll, one of the tavern regulars. Peter then spoke to Rekyll, and paid him a bribe to have Rekyll's “people” dig up some info on the scoundrel. Three days later, Rekyll turned up some information. Cullum was a friend of a chandler named Rhys Luminus, who had a shop in the Shambles. The party visited the chandler, and found that Cullum was a member of the Old (thieves') Guild, and regularly attended a weekly dogfight deep in the Shambles. In six days, the next dogfight would take place.
The dogfight proved to be another Guild operation, with 30-40 people in attendance. The party tried to find a way to isolated Cullum, who seemed to be trying to fix the fights. They couldn't figure out if it was with the knowledge of the Guild, or not. Cecil and Shain placed bets, but lost. Cullum was betting heavily on a different dog, and won big. Cullum seemed to pick up on the strangers' attention; after the dogfights, he invited everyone to the Hollow Leg tavern for a round. This was something he was not known to do, the party heard. With the protective cover of the crowd, the party was not able to attack Cullum. After a couple of hours in the tavern, though, Cullum finally left by himself. The party tried to shadow him, but Janus with his heavy armor and shield was about as stealthy as an elephant. Cullum detected the pursuit, and skillfully hid. Cecil spotted him, and wounded him with an arrow, but he got away.
