The Adventure:

Somehow not scared off by their near-death experience the week before, Cecil and Ellys decide to go back into the dungeon, this time with Lola and Shain for company. Shortly before they do, they are offered a job by an anonymous person in the Hollow Leg Tavern. They are told if they want to make some money to not risk their necks (as opposed to paying Bartholomew for the privilege of risking life and limb), they should meet this person again in one week. In the meantime, it's back to the dungeon.

The party decides once again to return to the labyrinth with the secret doors, the pits, the orcs, etc. At first, they are very careful to check for traps and secret doors thoroughly. This takes so long, however, that Ellys' mage armor spell is in danger of running out. She urges the party to hurry, and they do, missing the pit trap and the secret doors, and beginning yet another ambush with two characters in a pit and surrounded by orcs. Ellys gets knocked out, but not killed, by an orc with a greataxe. After climbing out of a pit, Cecil gets knocked down by a thrown javelin. Shain climbs out of the pit; an orc tries to push him back into it. Eventually, the party kills four orcs; two more retreat. The party bandages their wounds and press on.

Entering the big room at the end of the labyrinth, the party is quickly set upon by the two orcs who retreated. Ellys puts one to sleep with a spell; the other quickly falls to Shain's barbarian axe. Finding no treasure in the already-looted room, the party decides to find areas on the first level as yet unexplored.

Wending their way to an unexplored section of the dungeon, they open a door and find a chamber painted all in black, with glowing white runes lighting up the room. Half a dozen skeletal dire rats and two screaming skulls attack. There is a pile of decomposing carcasses of dire rats in the room. Elyss also sees the severed heads of her brothers Gawyn and Gwalchavad there! Lola turns the undead monstrosities, and then the rest of the party wipes them out. Elyss collects the grisly remnants of her brothers.
