The Adventure:

Gawyn and Gwalchavad's sisters Selene and Ellys show up to look for their missing siblings. They meet up with the gnomes Cecil and Smedley in the Hollow Leg Tavern and brave the deadly dungeon below. They enter the first level, and do some quick exploring of the forward rooms. They have a quick fight against dire rats in one. A dire rat bites Cecil really hard; Smedley closes the door to lock them in the room. Selene and Ellys want to spike the door in case the rats try to open it, but remember eventually that rats don't have hands…

Wishing to find the corpses of their brothers, the sisters ask Cecil to lead them to a likely spot where they might have been killed. Cecil leads them to the gauntlet where he, Lola and Long saw Buddy the monk get killed by a nasty ogre. After getting smacked by a scythe trap, they decide to be careful, and later avoid a pit trap. Orcs spring out of secret doors in front of them and behind them, ambushing the party. A short, sharp fight leads to a narrow victory by the party. Badly damaged, they bind their wounds and retreat from the dungeon, carrying only three orcish greataxes as spoils.

The bite of the dire rat turns foul, and Cecil catches filth fever. Only with the help of his friends does he recover from the dread disease. The sisters, broke, work menial jobs while they recover.

Ten days later, they return to the dungeon, and to the gauntlet. Reaching the end of the gauntlet without opposition, they are faced with a band of six orcs. Another tough fight ends with only Smedly still fighting, and the last orc fleeing for its life. There they find the bodies of Gawyn, Gwalchavad, and Buddy, and make off with a decent haul of treasure. Gawyn's last words, written in blood on the wall: "I always had a problem…"
